IS DANCE FOR ME?

Is Dance for me?

Of course it is!!!!

We truly believe that anyone of any age or skill level can learn to dance and have fun doing it!

It’s never too late to learn a new skill that builds confidence, coordination, is a great form of exercise, and has so many other great health benefits to offer.

You’ve seen celebrities go from zero to hero, you can too!

But what if I have two left feet?

Everyone has to start somewhere! We were beginners once too!

At Nicholson Dance, we know it can be intimidating to start something new. Our personalised lesson plans are tailored to your level, so that you feel comfortable and confident building up your skills and mastering your routines before moving up to the next level.

Whether you are just beginning, are returning to dance after some time off, or already know how to waltz, we can build a lesson plan suitable for you so that you have fun, learn something new, and have a rewarding experience.

So what dances can I learn?

While we compete in Ballroom and New Vogue (a form of sequence dancing that is danced in Australia and New Zealand and based on Ballroom), we also have experience in teaching Latin American, as well as some other Latin dances.

The five Ballroom dances include the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep.

The five Latin American dances include the Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive.

Your lessons can include some, or all, of these dances and while we recommend giving everything a go, its important to find your style and what feels good for you.

Health benefits of dancing!

Ballroom dancing is a fun and easy way to stay active and get some physical exercise while learning a new set of skills.

Not only does Ballroom dancing improve your flexibility and endurance, but it is a great way to stay fit and boost your metabolism. Studies have shown that Ballroom dancing is just as effective as jogging or cycling for boosting your cardiovascular health and that just 30 minutes of dancing burns 200-400 calories (the same amount as jogging or cycling).

The physical benefits aren’t the only great thing about ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing has been shown to have so many mental health benefits, from reducing stress and depression, improving self-confidence, and even reducing the chances of Alzheimer’s and dementia later in life!

So you think you want to dance?
